I have a sick little girl, home from school today with a cough and a fever, sitting in the rocking chair eating cereal and complaining that every time she eats, she gets crumbs in her eyes.
Okey Dokey.
I have a happy little baby, who once again did not sleep much last night (for a couple hours there he woke up every ten minutes) who is sitting in his high chair, happily drinking a bottle and watching his crazy older siblings be crazy.
And in the time it took me to write that, the whole scene shifted.

I have a sick little girl who is now in time-out for getting sassy with the aforementioned boys and telling them with a snooty tone, "That's why you don't sit up there! Sheesh!" complete with an eye roll from her perch as Queen Of The Sickies in the rocking chair. And she is quite distressed that I made her leave her perch, which was all cozy with pillows and blankets.
I know, I'm such a mean mom.
And I have a happy baby, still sitting in his high chair, still drinking his bottle, but who is now asleep. Probably needs a lot of catching up after last night. I know I do.
And now I'm off to unload the dishwasher and rotate laundry. Because naps are for babies. And today, I am planning on channeling my inner baby at naptime, so I'd better get some work done now. Come one o'clock, I'll be checking my eyelids for light leaks.
